Shopping in the Open
In the centre of Kolding lies a cosy net of pedestrian streets, where more than 180 shops entice the shoppers and offer a versatile consumer experience in historical surroundings. Chain stores are side by side with exciting speciality shops selling clothes, decorative art and delicatessens. Koldinghus forms a unique backdrop for the pedestrian streets, which twist and turn through the central down.
In between the shops, visitors will find small peaceful oases or historical places, which offer rich and lively stories. There is, for example, Sønderbro (the South Bridge), where there, in the olden days, was a custom house for the export of oxen to Germany and Holland, that used to bring many people to town. Today, in addition to being a bustling shipping district, Sønderbro, because of its location directly across the Kolding River, is a lively recreational area. When the weather is fine, it is the perfect spot to relax while enjoying ice cream or watching the kayakers and the ducks on the river.
Shopping and Experiences

Moving away from the town centre, visitors can find many more shopping opportunities in the Kolding Storcenter shopping mall. There are more than 120 speciality shops in the largest shopping centre in Jutland, which customers voted as one of the best in the coyntry. From the large supermarket Bilka to exclusive clothes shops, well-equipped speciality shops, bank, greengrocers, hairdressers, 6 cinemas and much more.
The centre part covers approx. 40,000 sqm. To this comes Bilka of approx. 22,500 sqm. The building is erected to form an interesting shopping environment. The long shopping streets, which are intersected by interesting side streets, together with the large squares form an inspiring shopping environment. Kolding Storcenter has more than 2,500 free parking spaces at a short and convenient distance to the large entrances.
Markets

You can also go to market in Kolding. For example, you can go to the market (at Akseltorv) in the centre of Kolding every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 7 o'clock to 13 o'clock. Or you may visit the Kolding Antik- og Kræmmermarked (Antiques and small shops) (at Haderslevvej/Sdr. Ringvej) every Saturday and Sunday from 10 o'clock to 17 o'clock.
Shopping in the neighbourhood The shops in the neighbouring towns also attract customers with great bargains and good service. Drop by in Christiansfeld, where you will find the old crafts shops, like for example the Christiansfelder Kakkelovne, where, for many generations, the unique tiled stoves, known as the "Christiansfelder" with the special draught system and highly insulated fireplace have been made. The quite accurate construction has remained a well preserved family secret.
Or combine a visit at the Kongeå Museum in Vamdrup with a stroll in Vamdrup's over 40 speciality shops.
