Rambling from Christiansfeld to Christinero

ChristineroThere is a rambling trail out to the park and back of 4.6 km. From the centre of Christiansfeld you walk west along Lindegade and continue straight ahead along the footbridge (across route 170) past Tyrstrupgård and follow the trail to the left along the river towards the parking lot at the old vicarage.

After the parking lot there is a path to the right. But you can also continue straight ahead through the gate to the old vicarage of Tyrstrup. Here the road runs along the preserved Bullade (bole barn), which was built in 1668 from oak boles, which means rather short wide planks or slabs, which are pushed down the grooves of the vertical posts. The barn is made without nails, so that you can dismantle the building and move it. This 36 metres long bole barn, however, has never been moved.

You are now approaching the forest of 'Smedeholm' with a pond with a natural fountain (a so-called artesian well, of which there are many in the area). The forest is also called the Svanedamsskoven (the Swan Pond Forest) , because years ago there used to be swans and ducks on the pond.

Continue straight ahead to Christinero. A bit further ahead on your left you will pass an old large knotty beech tree - "Wallenstein's Beech". It is claimed, that Wallenstein's soldiers once during the Thirty Years' War rested here and tied their horses to this tree. However, the tree is not that old. It is also called "Heine's Beech". Heine was a woodman, who many years ago asked for the mercy of exactly this tree, when it was going to be felled. From Smedeholm you continue across a meadow and have reached Christinero.

By Car to Christinero
You can also go to Christinero car. Immediately west of the roundabout with the well,
a road turns off towards 'Bulladen' (the bole barn) and 'Christinero'. Please notice the cement well at the house to the left. The sulphurous ground water springs from the ground in many places in the area.

The road leads to the parking lot at the old vicarage. It also possible to park at the gate into the park, but then you have drive to the traffic light south of Christiansfeld and drive to the west past Favrvrå, where a sigh to the right points towards Christinero.
