Get provoked and Seduced by Art at Trapholt

A visit to the Trapholt art museum includes many stimulating - and unique - experiences, which one cannot help but be affected by. Start with a tour of the very distinct and beautiful rooms where visitors can soak in art and design. Take a walk in the park, enjoy the view of the bay and have lunch in the café. Let the children join in the entertaining activities or play tag in the park. End the visit with a quick trip to the museum shop for some "eye-catching" souvenirs.


Trapholt is the only museum in Denmark, where modern art, applied art, design and furniture design are all in one location. The special exhibitions always offer new, different and stimulating experiences with both Danish and international artists, designers and architects.

The museum has a fine collection of modern pictoral art and a beautiful underground room with a view to an atrium holds many fine examples of the extraordinary and influential Danish tradition of furniture design. Here you will find designs by Danish icons, such as Arne Jacobsen, Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner and Verner Panton.

Arne Jacobsen's Summer House
A visit to the Kubeflex summer house should not be missed. The summer house has been decorated and designed by the leading Danish style architect and designer, Arne Jacobsen, and is the only of its kind in existence today. Inside, you will find interiors consisting of a dining and living room with loads of examples of other objects designed by Arne Jacobsen, such as the fittings line V ola and the serving line Cylinda Line.

The Applied Airt and Design Biennale
The Biennale, which is held every other year, is the largest and only reoccuring exhibition of applied art and design in Denmark. Here the most recent, most creative and most innovative works of the greatest Danish names in the field arre presented. The Biennale is arranged by the museums of Koldinghus and Traphold, in cooperation with the organisation Danske Kunsthåndværkere (Danish Artists of Applied Art). The exhibition shows the wide range of Danish applied art products and reflects the contrasts and variety in this cross field.

In connection with exhibition the Biennale Award of DKK 100,000 is presented to 1-3 artists of applied art or designes, who arre showing one or more especially distinctive works at the exhibition. The award is accompanied by an invitation to a subsequent separate exhibition at the Danish Museum of Art and Design in Copenhagen.

Opening hours at Arne Jacobsen's Summer House

The summer house is open every day at 11, 13 and 15 o'clock.
Closed Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Saturdays and Sundays open every hour from 11 a.m. - 15 p.m..
Duration: Approx. 30 minutes

Nicolai Kunst og Design - Nicolai Art and Design 


The house with art, applied art and design is part of the culture block Nicolai, which also holds a culture house for children, a cinema and a café. The intention is, that the house shall be a incubator for the undergrowth of creating artists of applied art, that live in the Kolding region. Besides workshops, the house is furnished with exhibition facilities, which presents works of both the artists of the house and artists from outside.

Designskolen


Designskolen Kolding is one of the leading design schools in Denmark. Here the designers of the future are taught, specializing in graphic design, illustration, industrial design, interaction design or fashion and textile design.

Several times a year the Designskolen Kolding arranges Open House, where it is possible to admire and buy the works of the students. More information is available at www.dskd.dk
