
Kolding is known for annual events like the Culture Night, the Art Days, the Cartoon Festival and the Open Air Opera Festival at Skamlingsbanken. For most people, participation in these events has become an annual tradition. The Open Air Opera Festival at Skamlingsbanken is an outstanding and beautifully moving experience, that gives af previuew of the upcoming opera season to be experienced in historical surroundings of outstanding beauty.
The theatres in the region have live shows all year round, and the summer kick-off is always the traditional Kolding Sommerrevy (summer revue), which attracts people from all over Denmark and Europe. The music venues in the town presents a wide selection of arrangements with national and international artists. Various clubs arrange large concerts and festivals.
Godset - Kolding's Music Hall
Since March 2001 Kolding has had its own music hall - and one further attraction. The music hall was exquisitely built according to advanced standards and is rated one of the best music halls in Denmark by the musicians themselves. The focus is on rhythm music, but the house is also used for theatre plays, lectures etc.
The Nicolai BlockKolding's new culture block is established in one of Denmarks largest historical school complexes. The complex represents a unique piece of Danish history and is a perfect example of the development of Danish school design in the second half of the 19th century. Today, Nicolai contains a cinema, a café, an archive on local history, a children's culture house with and adventure universe for children aged 2-12 years. The Nicolai Theatre becomes a regular base for a number of orchestras and place of rehearsal for choirs and Nicolai Art & Design houses professional artists and designers with workshops and attached exhibition facilities.
