Into the Field with the Museum
Along the old Kongeå River frontiers
3 different customs frontiers and the national frontier from 1864-1920.

In 2008 the KONGEÅMUSEET offers three tours along the old "Kongeå River frontiers". The tours are in buses with 55 seats starting from the Kongeå Museum (opposite the Vamdrup Railway Station) .

On the way the museum manager tells about the history of the individual frontiers: customs houses, gendarme houses connected to the frontier, the old roads and the crossings across the rivers, the nature through which you pass, and he may also get a couple of smuggler's stories in. As something new, historical pictures from the border crossings will be shown on the TV in the bus, so that the participants can compare the conditions in the old days with the conditions today.

A songbook has also been prepared, so that the participants will get a chance to strike up a song, when the songs match the place or the history of the place, so that you get a feeling of the difference between the danish and the Prussian side of the frontier. At the end of the tour you will receive a confirmation that you have passed the relevant border crossings in 2008.

The price of the tour includes bus, guide, admission to the Kongeåmuseet and a meal at Arena Syd.

Individuals and associations, which cannot muster participants to fill a bus, can sign up for a number of seats of one of the mentioned 3 tours by paying a deposit at the booking.
Each bus has a maximum of 55 seats.

Registration a fortnight at the latest before the tour takes place.
